Chic Fall Fashion - Black and White Layers

Image
Happy Thursday everyone! It is a beautiful fall day – little chilly than usual.   I made a mistake wearing a heavy turtleneck sweater to work yesterday.   So I opt for a lighter shirt. I particularly love this black shirt by Antonio Berardi.   Immediately, I decided to go with black and white ensemble.. When the weather turned to chilly, I always wear a short sleeve light turtleneck sweater under a shirt to keep me warm.   You can also try light tank top if you don’t like turtleneck.   For turtleneck or tank top as undershirt, as long as it tight fit and it is cotton (for comfy level).   You are good.   The short sleeve turtleneck I bought from Banana Republic long time ago.   I wish I bought more than one back then because I wear it all the time when it turns cold.   Anyway, I get all my   tank tops from Target. Since the shirt is full of Ruffles, and makes my upper body wider so I put a white pencil skirt to create up side down triangle affect.   To complete

Chic Mom Factor - Easy Breezy Resort Style

Image
Beach, ocean breeze, sunshine, Palm trees - all that exotic tropical surroundings ask for the most gorgeous outfits to come with.  On top of it, you can put on those flowy cover ups and be resort princess.  How fun is it? When go on resort vacation, I bring outfits for days and night.  Good thing is that they are all light so I can still manage to put everything in one luagage. In this blog, we will just talk about outfit for days - cover ups  and swim wear. To start, pick the most vibrant color or print, or simple white.  Black is my go to for day to day wear, not when I am in a beatiful resort.  Pick quality cover ups that last for long time.   Many of my cover ups have been with me on my resort vacations many times.  However, each year, I would add one or two new cover ups in my collections to switch up a little. If you opt for long kaftan, make sure it is not too long that drags on the ground.  Your dress will get dirty very quick, and it may also a safty hazard too (

Friday Causal - Chic and Simple

Image
Happy Friday, Love! I started dress casual on Friday recently.  It is just as much fun as dress up.  Today I picked the simplest ensemble - turtleneck tucked in skinny jeans. I always like to wear turtleneck during cold days.  The look of turtleneck is sophisticate and chic.  However, it is unbearable to wear wool or cashmere turtleneck sweater indoor.  Especially in office often there are many people sitting in a meeting, everyone is a heater.  On top of it, once you are overheated, you loss your train of thoughts...This turtleneck sweater is very light.  It is cotton blend by H&M a couple years ago.    I found the similar style in Zara.  Here is the link https://www.zara.com/us/en/basic-turtleneck-sweater-p08851103.html?v1=7770973&v2=1121003 The jeans is of course from my favorite Jean Shop. www.express.com I sit by floor to Ceiling windows.  It gets chilly with that cold draft.  So I put on light fit down jacket.  The jacket is from Moncler.  But you can find the

My story continues-- As whole evening ordeal ended yesterday, I felt exhausted.  I slept with Alia as I didn't want her to wake up sick and alone.  Opening my eyes this morning, I felt weak and something was coming down.   At the time, Alia was up too.  I said "Mommy doesn't feel well. Can I sleep a little more".  She quietly left room, and closed door behind her. An hour later, I felt better so I got up.  She heard the noise in the room, and came in.  Her face was lit up!  She said "Mommy, do you want to eat breakfast?"  I didn't pay too much attention.  I said "yes, maybe after I take a shower".  She insisted "Mommy, can you eat first, then take a shower?" so I said okay.  She said "come with me Mommy" so I followed. On the table, there were a plate with Strawberries and Raspberry, and cup of Orange juice.  She said proudly "Mommy, I made this for you! I had to climb up to get the plate and cup.  I did all by my

Before I get into today’s look, I would like to share a story with you.   The day started with a high note as Grandma and Pops flew in from their long European trip to visit us, and went to my  daughter's  gymnastic and dance classes with us.  After class, we went to Chinatown and had DimSum (Chinese brunch)!   It seemed all fine till we got home.  My daughter said the her tummy hurts.  Sometimes, she could be a little dramatic so I dismissed her several times till she ran into my room where I was relaxing in the bed, and crying “Mommy, my tummy hurts really bad!”.  I jumped out of the bed, and held her.  I said “do you want to throw up?”  She said yes, then it came out… It was all over bedroom carpet, and VERY messy.  We ran to the bathroom, and mess continued…  Once I situated her by the Toilet, she finished throwing up, and said “Mommy, I am so sorry!”  I almost cried.  I held her tight, and said “baby, no, you don’t need to say sorry.  Mommy is sorry you are s

Nobody is Perfect!

It is one of those days – I didn’t go to sleep till 12:30am, and got up around 5:30am since I had a call at 7:00 am with our offshore team.  After a quick shower, I felt a little better.  Followed by my usual beauty routine, I was able to look half presentable.  Every day, my hubby and I go to work together as our offices are pretty close. Before we get in the car, he takes my ootd pictures that I used them later for my Instagram, blog, facebook, and wechat postings.  There was no exception today.  First, he took some pictures that I didn’t wear my sunglasses.  But when I saw how bad my eyes looked, I put my sunglasses, and took some more. I can’t do anything with my puffy eyes, but I can’t hide them temporarily…When I got to the pictures later, I noticed that my pearl necklace is also crooked and twisted… Oh boy… Lesson learned  - don't stay up too late for beauty sake - if you get puffy eyes, and eye bags, use ice patch (just learned from youtube vi

Give Your Old Jean Jacket a New Life

Image
There are times that I felt I needed to have a Jean jacket that goes with everything, and I found the one.  I bought it, and never worn it since the purchase.  This Jean jacket is one of those.  Like I said in my previous blog, I am a fancy pants.  Dress up – easie pizzie, dress down – not so much. As my life get busier each everyday - raising 6 year old kid (going on 18), more demanding job, and a blog to maintain, dress down is definitely more appealing now than ever.  It took me a while to get to the point that I feel great to wear flats or sneaker, jean jacket etc.  The process of getting to this point is lengthy.  I am glad that I am here, and would like to share with you few of my tips. First of all, no matter what, the jackets need to fit you well with good quality.  Investing in just one or two pieces of them, you will be set for long time.  Pleat midi skirts are in.  Although not a trend follower, I found midi skirt to go well with flats and sneakers.    You do

Not your ordinary office attire

Hi Love, I know it’s Monday, it’s gloomy.  You are not looking forward to the busy day ahead of you.   On the bright side, you can now get rid of your weekend casual look, and pick some few really cute office outfit to start your day with a happy note. Start with the shirt, this silk and velvet high neck shirt grabbed my attention this morning.  I tried a few options to go with.  Eventually went with this black A line skirt from Express.  A eye catching flower accent belt from Ann Fontaine adds more dramatic affect which guarantees this look NOT to be your everyday office look.  I paired the look with lace up heels from Malone Soulier. I know you may wonder who has all that time to think through this during busy Monday.  It took me 10 min top to get this together. But hey, that’s the reason I am here so you don’t have to spend even 10 minutes.   My shirt is from brand called “Lavenement” which is my sister’s brand.  You will see more about her brand in my blog.

Layers, Layer, and Layers

Hi Love, hope you had a nice relaxing weekend.  I found it is extremely hard to find a perfect outfit for weekend go about outfit when weather changes.  I am not ready to pull out my fabulous coat, and not ready to let go of summer tops... talking about dilemmas Looking at the weather, it was at high 50s and low 60s.  I was about to go out to have breakfast with my loving family.  The tone of look today - not too fancy not too casual.  When I saw this quilted shawls I bought last year from Zara.  I know exactly what I am going to wear.  Here we go: The key to this look is layers - I have a short sleeve turtleneck sweater to start with, then a ruffle sleeve shirt from Antonio Beradi.  My fav skinny legging Jean from Express.  To complete the look,  I paired with Miumiu black shearling sneakers, and my fav Chloe bucket bag.  The last but not least Zara black quilted shawls.   I feel so good with this look.  I wore it to breakfast, a birthday party, and to dinner.  To a chic m

IT Jeans with IT bag - hottest trend of 2018

I have been searching for a perfect pair of wide leg crop Jeans.  Not whole lot of selection in the market right now.  They are either too expensive (in $400s) or cheap but bad quality.  It was my lucky day when I stumbled upon this Lucky Brand  Wide Leg Denim Crop Trouser In Sea Lane .  It was on sale (50%), and you get free shipping if you pick it up from store.  All in all, $50... yes, I know you are smiling It looks okay in the picture.  The only concern I had is that I felt that width of Leg was not as wide as I was hoping for.  But since I can return it to store if I don't like, so I ordered anyway. So when I got I notification that it arrived.  I went to picked up in the Store.  The very fashionable sales person immediately complimented my then outfit (one of the outfit from my Jeans, Jeans, Jeans post).  I told them that I have a blog and an instagram account which I post everyday, and if I like The Lucky Brand,  I will write a review, and post it too.  So here we

The IT bag - Chloe Bucket Bag This season's hottest trend is bucket bags.  I love small Chloe Bucket Bag.  I t is  11'' H X 9'' W X 6'' D.   It is big enough to provide a lot of space for your daily stuff.   But not too big to overwhelm a petite girl like me.   It has t op leather handle for more formal wear, and r emovable, adjustable canvas strap for your weekend casual look.  I especially like drawstring to close the bag securely.  be secure.   You can buy them in Saks, Neimans, Bergdorf, or Net-a-porter.   Today, I paired it with a relaxed Sunday casual look.  I will continue posting different looks with this bag to give you some different ideas. Detail of my look top - Zara.  I bought this from Zara last year.  But you can find similar style in Zara right now.  Just want to make sure it has a little edgy to it Jeans - from my favorite Jean store - express. They are still available (girl friend fit) Bell - Hermes Sunglasses - Miumiu fro

To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Jeans.  However, I admire some of the sexy mamas out there rock their jeans.  Through the years, I have bought all kinds of Jeans, expensive or not, nothing look good on me.  So I gave up on Jeans until one day A fabulous girlfriend of mine, and a fellow hot mama was wearing a pair of white destressed jeans.  It looked so good on her so I had to ask... The rest is history...  Those jeans are so comfortable, fit me like a glove, look unbelievable...  Are you ready?  they are from express jeans(https://www.express.com) I know.  I feel that I look like a jeanie princess in it.

Fancy Casual - Chunky sneaker and LBD

Image
You may already know one of the hottest trend of this year is Chunky sneaker.  Yes, it is cool to get a very fancy sneaker just to be in trend.  That's not my style.   Chic is my trade mark.  I don't want to put on a pair of chunky sneakers, and look chunky.  The best way to dress down is by dress up.  This Issey Miyake LBD goes perfect with Pucci chunky sneaker.  Casual but Fancy.  Just the way I like it.  It is perfect for day or night. I got both dress and sneak when I was in Florence this summer.  You don't need get the exact the same dress.  However, the dress need to have a little edge to it.  I think the traditional LBD will look a little strange with Chunky sneaker as those may go best with the high heels.   if you want to get high end chunky sneakers, I like Net-a-porter, bergdorfgoodman, neimans, or saks.  You can also found tons of selection in zappos, addidas.

A new day - Chic Mom Factor

Image
Hi everyone, I am known as chic_mom_factor in instagram, new to blog world. Although a IT veteran, and have heard and read other people's blogs for many years, never bothered to start blogging myself. Today, I finally decided to create my own blog. A self-claimed fashionista and fancy-pants, I love to play with my styles. You may think it is so vain to say that. But be honest, it is in me since I was little. Grown up in a family that have 4 daughters, Mom and Dad tried their best to provide us with comfortable life. There were not much extra go to about. I always want to be the ones with the most beautiful dress or "fancy" shoes. Nobody is perfect. But with right style, you can look like million dollars! Research showed the better put together you are, the more confident you are. Rest will follow. Through the years, I started to learn what suit me the best, in the meantime, I am not afraid to try new things new styles. People stopped me on t
