Chic Fall Fashion - Black and White Layers

Image
Happy Thursday everyone! It is a beautiful fall day – little chilly than usual.   I made a mistake wearing a heavy turtleneck sweater to work yesterday.   So I opt for a lighter shirt. I particularly love this black shirt by Antonio Berardi.   Immediately, I decided to go with black and white ensemble.. When the weather turned to chilly, I always wear a short sleeve light turtleneck sweater under a shirt to keep me warm.   You can also try light tank top if you don’t like turtleneck.   For turtleneck or tank top as undershirt, as long as it tight fit and it is cotton (for comfy level).   You are good.   The short sleeve turtleneck I bought from Banana Republic long time ago.   I wish I bought more than one back then because I wear it all the time when it turns cold.   Anyway, I get all my   tank tops from Target. Since the shirt is full of Ruffles, and makes my upper body wider so I put a white pencil skirt to create up side down triangle affect.   To complete

Chic Mom Factor - Easy Breezy Resort Style

Image
Beach, ocean breeze, sunshine, Palm trees - all that exotic tropical surroundings ask for the most gorgeous outfits to come with.  On top of it, you can put on those flowy cover ups and be resort princess.  How fun is it? When go on resort vacation, I bring outfits for days and night.  Good thing is that they are all light so I can still manage to put everything in one luagage. In this blog, we will just talk about outfit for days - cover ups  and swim wear. To start, pick the most vibrant color or print, or simple white.  Black is my go to for day to day wear, not when I am in a beatiful resort.  Pick quality cover ups that last for long time.   Many of my cover ups have been with me on my resort vacations many times.  However, each year, I would add one or two new cover ups in my collections to switch up a little. If you opt for long kaftan, make sure it is not too long that drags on the ground.  Your dress will get dirty very quick, and it may also a safty hazard too (

Friday Causal - Chic and Simple

Image
Happy Friday, Love! I started dress casual on Friday recently.  It is just as much fun as dress up.  Today I picked the simplest ensemble - turtleneck tucked in skinny jeans. I always like to wear turtleneck during cold days.  The look of turtleneck is sophisticate and chic.  However, it is unbearable to wear wool or cashmere turtleneck sweater indoor.  Especially in office often there are many people sitting in a meeting, everyone is a heater.  On top of it, once you are overheated, you loss your train of thoughts...This turtleneck sweater is very light.  It is cotton blend by H&M a couple years ago.    I found the similar style in Zara.  Here is the link https://www.zara.com/us/en/basic-turtleneck-sweater-p08851103.html?v1=7770973&v2=1121003 The jeans is of course from my favorite Jean Shop. www.express.com I sit by floor to Ceiling windows.  It gets chilly with that cold draft.  So I put on light fit down jacket.  The jacket is from Moncler.  But you can find the

Chic Mom Factor - Be Kind and Be Strong

My story continues-- As whole evening ordeal ended yesterday, I felt exhausted.  I slept with Alia as I didn't want her to wake up sick and alone.  Opening my eyes this morning, I felt weak and something was coming down.   At the time, Alia was up too.  I said "Mommy doesn't feel well. Can I sleep a little more".  She quietly left room, and closed door behind her. An hour later, I felt better so I got up.  She heard the noise in the room, and came in.  Her face was lit up!  She said "Mommy, do you want to eat breakfast?"  I didn't pay too much attention.  I said "yes, maybe after I take a shower".  She insisted "Mommy, can you eat first, then take a shower?" so I said okay.  She said "come with me Mommy" so I followed. On the table, there were a plate with Strawberries and Raspberry, and cup of Orange juice.  She said proudly "Mommy, I made this for you! I had to climb up to get the plate and cup.  I did all by my

Before I get into today’s look, I would like to share a story with you.   The day started with a high note as Grandma and Pops flew in from their long European trip to visit us, and went to my  daughter's  gymnastic and dance classes with us.  After class, we went to Chinatown and had DimSum (Chinese brunch)!   It seemed all fine till we got home.  My daughter said the her tummy hurts.  Sometimes, she could be a little dramatic so I dismissed her several times till she ran into my room where I was relaxing in the bed, and crying “Mommy, my tummy hurts really bad!”.  I jumped out of the bed, and held her.  I said “do you want to throw up?”  She said yes, then it came out… It was all over bedroom carpet, and VERY messy.  We ran to the bathroom, and mess continued…  Once I situated her by the Toilet, she finished throwing up, and said “Mommy, I am so sorry!”  I almost cried.  I held her tight, and said “baby, no, you don’t need to say sorry.  Mommy is sorry you are s

Nobody is Perfect!

It is one of those days – I didn’t go to sleep till 12:30am, and got up around 5:30am since I had a call at 7:00 am with our offshore team.  After a quick shower, I felt a little better.  Followed by my usual beauty routine, I was able to look half presentable.  Every day, my hubby and I go to work together as our offices are pretty close. Before we get in the car, he takes my ootd pictures that I used them later for my Instagram, blog, facebook, and wechat postings.  There was no exception today.  First, he took some pictures that I didn’t wear my sunglasses.  But when I saw how bad my eyes looked, I put my sunglasses, and took some more. I can’t do anything with my puffy eyes, but I can’t hide them temporarily…When I got to the pictures later, I noticed that my pearl necklace is also crooked and twisted… Oh boy… Lesson learned  - don't stay up too late for beauty sake - if you get puffy eyes, and eye bags, use ice patch (just learned from youtube vi

Give Your Old Jean Jacket a New Life

Image
There are times that I felt I needed to have a Jean jacket that goes with everything, and I found the one.  I bought it, and never worn it since the purchase.  This Jean jacket is one of those.  Like I said in my previous blog, I am a fancy pants.  Dress up – easie pizzie, dress down – not so much. As my life get busier each everyday - raising 6 year old kid (going on 18), more demanding job, and a blog to maintain, dress down is definitely more appealing now than ever.  It took me a while to get to the point that I feel great to wear flats or sneaker, jean jacket etc.  The process of getting to this point is lengthy.  I am glad that I am here, and would like to share with you few of my tips. First of all, no matter what, the jackets need to fit you well with good quality.  Investing in just one or two pieces of them, you will be set for long time.  Pleat midi skirts are in.  Although not a trend follower, I found midi skirt to go well with flats and sneakers.    You do
